Young Children and High-Tech AAC Tools
Have you considered using high-tech AAC with a young child? We’ve recently met a young child named Wyatt using a high-tech DynaVox device. He was 19 months old when he first received his device, and he just turned 2 last week. He has made some significant communicative progress using his device! Wyatt’s family has shared how important it has been for them to see him communicate not only at home but in the community and with a variety of partners. He has increased his social skills by having a way to respond to others! Wyatt has also started to communicate verbally as well, and most of those first words are either preferred items on his toys page or the words within the Quickfires language element. It has been very exciting to see his progress! Watch this brief clip showing Wyatt communicating at a local restaurant in his hometown. Wyatt says this is good!
Be sure to visit the Implementation Toolkit on the DynaVox website to see many more great videos showing users of all ages having success in communicating in a variety of places!
