Achieving Full Independence with AAC
A person determines success by the outcome of many different factors in his life. Depending on the person, success can be interpreted in many different ways. For a person with cerebral palsy, my definition of success might be different from other people because I see my life trajectory going in a unique way. That is why as a man with CP who uses AAC to communicate I have the freedom to define my own form of success in a way that not too many people have the opportunity too.
I determine my success from having the opportunity to accomplish my career goals, which is to be a published author and poet. The goal that I set for myself this year is to have a poetry book and a novel professionally published and selling on Amazon.com. My book of poetry, A Declaration of a Body of Love, about to be released on Amazon and I am in the middle of writing my novel. I am excited to see my literary career take off.
Some people advise me that I should get a full time job with a set salary. Although that is appealing I would rather pursue my love of writing rather than get bogged down with the monotony of the working world. Not that I would pass up a great job if one comes up. The experiences at the job might make for good writing material so I will keep my options open.
